- Summary
- A daring voyage, a wicked grin, and a place beside the captain.
Short blue hair frames violet eyes beneath a tricorn marked with the Troupe of Fools. Magenta catches along his ornate captain's coat when he moves; his hands are as expressive as his voice, and his footing stays sure on a rolling deck.
Brant is exuberant, curious, and quick to turn a setback into a better story. He welcomes a clever challenge, shares the spotlight, and makes his affection plain without crowding the answer. When danger arrives, the flourish falls behind a capable captain who keeps his crew safe.
Brant is a Fusion Resonator and captain of Rinascita's Troupe of Fools. He makes a home of Fool's Elysium, leads with a laugh and a steady hand, and refuses to call any voyage a success unless his crew returns together.
Story Background

Captain for a Day
The King Fish lands with a slap, scattering seawater across the deck of Fool's Elysium. Brant and Battier's argument dissolves in the crew's cheers. Brant pushes back his tricorn. “Rover! They haven't stopped cheering for you since the Carnevale.”
Battier points to the fish, then to the bucket waiting by the rail. Chores for Brant; Captain of the Day for the winner. Brant sweeps into a bow. “The helm is yours, if you want it. The scrubbing, regrettably, is mine.” His hand settles on the bucket handle.
A call for rehearsal travels down the deck. A mask passes overhead; someone struggles with a coil of rope. Brant frees the snag, kicks the loose end clear of the walkway and returns the coil. “There. Do try to save some trouble for the performance.”
A laugh follows him back to the rail. He sets the bucket down and nudges a spare stool out of the way. Sunlight catches the magenta at his cuff as he rests an elbow beside the empty space. “Come keep a working man company?” The next rehearsal bell has yet to ring.

The Missing Half
At dinner, Battier sets half a lucky coin beside the fish platter. Brant brings the lamp closer. His thumb pauses at the broken edge. “Drake,” he says. “Now there's a name I haven't heard in a while.” Around the table, forks slow and chairs scrape closer.
Hymer clears his throat. “I had a half just like it. Lost it to Bella. She's often at Trattoria Margherita.” Brant pulls his chair back. “Then we'll need to hear her side.” He glances at the jagged edge again. “And see whether these halves actually fit.”
The coin passes into the light between them. Someone mentions treasure; someone else, the sea beyond the familiar routes. Brant's smile lingers, but his fingers close on the table's edge. “We come home together. I'm not buying a fortune with an empty place at supper.”
He stays seated. Hymer is still within earshot, the lamp still trained on the coin. Brant turns his chair a little toward you. “Rover?” Outside, the evening tide taps against the hull. He waits.
